Being part of the "Shanghai family" is a strategic choice for Belarus. This was stated by President Alexander Lukashenko in his speech at the summit in Tianjin, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.

"Belarus is proud that a year ago it became a full-fledged member of the SCO. This aligns with the fundamental long-term interests of our state and opens up additional prospects and extensive areas of cooperation. Being part of the 'Shanghai family' is our strategic choice," emphasized the Belarusian leader.

Alexander Lukashenko noted that today the SCO is rightfully considered one of the most representative and influential international organizations in Eurasia. "It is natural that new states are striving to join the organization," he said. "Minsk supports the expansion of the SCO through new members and partners. Those who unconditionally share the values and the essence of the 'Shanghai Spirit': mutual respect and trust, equality, dialogue, and the pursuit of common development," the President stated.

At the conclusion of his speech, Alexander Lukashenko congratulated Kyrgyzstan on assuming the chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

He also congratulated the President of the People's Republic of China on the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese people in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the end of World War II. Alexander Lukashenko emphasized that the events marking this occasion demonstrate that the great Chinese people, together with the close-knit SCO family, will not allow history to be altered. "We were together there. I believe that in the future, just as the Soviet and Chinese peoples were once together, we will continue to shape the destiny of humanity," the President said.

"This significant anniversary, which we celebrate together with you, symbolizes the courage and resilience of the Chinese people in the struggle against occupation and injustice. The victory in that war is not only a source of national pride for China but also an important contribution to the common cause of international peace and security. I wholeheartedly wish China prosperity, well-being, and further success in building a harmonious and sustainable future," the Belarusian leader added.
