The President of Belarus’s work schedule is always highly eventful. Alexander Lukashenko holds meetings and working sessions on the most pressing issues of the country’s development, regularly visits regions, makes foreign trips, receives foreign guests, communicates with journalists, signs decrees and laws. And even when there are no public events, it does not mean that the head of state is not working. Moreover, even during his leisure time, whether it is a hockey practice or chopping wood, Alexander Lukashenko will find an opportunity to issue another directive. As he likes to say, one should always proceed from real life.
Alexander Lukashenko’s work week began with a meeting with the Governor of Saint Petersburg, Alexander Beglov, who timed his visit to Minsk to the 25th anniversary of the sister-city ties between the two cities. The President emphasized the special depth and spirituality of the relations between the residents of Minsk and St. Petersburg (Leningrad), calling cooperation with the Russian northern capital a priority among priorities.
Discussions about the future of Belarus-China relations took place during a meeting on Tuesday, July 15, with Gun Qihuan, Rector of Peking University. This future is to be shaped, among other things, by several thousand students from both countries who are studying at each other’s universities. Student exchanges, joint programs, and now also the Belarus-China Center for Fundamental Scientific Research, which opened at Belarusian State University.
On the evening of Tuesday, the Head of State hosted the President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, at his residence. The visit was short-term, but the conversation lasted nearly three hours, and the heads of state managed to discuss many important issues.
On Thursday, July 17, Alexander Lukashenko received a report from Yuri Senko, Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus. He emphasized a special role of this organization, calling it practically the most powerful "party" organization, which in its organizational structure ranks higher than any real party in the country.
On Friday, the most large-scale event of the week took place at the Palace of Independence - a video conference on the harvest campaign. Representatives of the local vertical of power, heads of enterprises and organizations from all regions joined the meeting via video link. They discussed how, in this very difficult season, to literally pull the harvest from the fields. In this regard, Alexander Lukashenko demanded to act, regardless of anything, and to solve all tasks in a military manner.
Among the important documents signed by the head of state, the following should be highlighted: the law on changes in social insurance and pension provision; a decree, simplifying land registrationadditional measures have been adopted to provide troops with transport and unmanned aerial vehicles in the event of mobilization and during wartime.
Decisions have also been adopted on supporting gifted students and university students, as well as representatives of talented youth. A total of Br 800 thousand will be allocated from the special funds of the head of state for these purposes.
The Order of Mother has been awarded to residents of several regions of Belarus.
Foreign congratulations on various occasions were sent during the week to France and Nicaragua. The head of state sent condolences to the President of Iraq in connection with the fire in the city of Al-Kut.
Alexander Lukashenko congratulated on the 90th anniversary of People's Artist of the RSFSR Vasily Livanov. Viewers of different generations know and sincerely love the images of charismatic film characters and animated characters created by him.
However, the sphere of art also suffered a serious loss this week - talented film director, actor and screenwriter Alexander Mitta died. The head of state sent condolences to the relatives and close friends of the People's Artist of the Russian Federation.
