25 rescuers took the solemn oath in Vitebsk

In honor of the upcoming 25th anniversary of the establishment of emergency situations bodies and units and the professional holiday of the Day of the Rescuer, 25 new recruits who joined the ranks of rescuers in the Vitebsk region took an oath in Vitebsk, reports a BELTA correspondent.

Among those who eagerly awaited one of the main events in their lives was a representative of the fair sex - Propaganda Inspector of the Gorodok Department of Emergency Situations, Anastasia Polesova. "I have worked for several years in the Ministry of Emergency Situations in civilian positions, but I always wanted to obtain an officer position in this department. My father, who was a colonel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, instilled in me a love for serving my country and people. My dream has come true, and I would like to say to those who are considering joining the ranks of the Ministry of Emergency Situations - do not hesitate, especially if you have an inner desire," - shared Anastasia, admitting that she is a little nervous on such a day, and her husband, who also works in law enforcement agencies, came to support her.

In total, more than 50 newly appointed rescuers took the oath of office in the northern region on this day. However, it was not only the newcomers who felt the solemnity of the moment – the heads of regional subdivisions of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) of the Vitebsk region were presented with keys to new vehicles. New equipment was purchased at the expense of the regional budget, and 10 Geely passenger cars, two water tankers, a medical service vehicle, a minibus, and two aerial ladder trucks were dispatched to their new duty stations. The gifts for rescuers did not end there, and eight MES employees were handed over the keys to new two-room rental apartments in the regional center.

"The MES is an operational agency that carries out a wide range of state tasks – both saving lives and preventing and eliminating emergencies of natural and technological origin. I am confident that the broad opportunities and technical potential will allow the MES to continue functioning as a government body. Work with the younger generation is also important. Such events lay the foundation that is essential for every rescuer – the desire to serve one's homeland," emphasized the head of the Regional Department of Emergency Situations, Sergei Meleshkin.
